Description
Carved ivory fetish of a seal. The seal has carved eyes, nose, feet and also decorative circular carvings on its back. Also, there are two holes underneath the seal indicating that this was meant to be worn. Fetishes and charms were used in fishing and hunting as good luck pieces. After capturing an animal, its body had to be treated carefully and respectfully so as not to be offended which might bring bad luck or death to the hunter and his people.
